Review – Let Hope In

I honestly can’t think of a time when I’ve been more excited to see a book I am reviewing released to the public. Next week, “Let Hope In” by Pete Wilson officially releases. If you are as excited as I am, you can pre-order the book today in advance of it’s official release October 1st. Either way, I highly recommend that you find time to read Let Hope In.

If you’ve been around this blog for any length of time, you know that I am a pretty big fan of two things:

It’s no coincidence that Pete Wilson is the Lead Pastor at Cross Point Church in Nashville, Tennessee. Cross Point has become my “church in the south” and I am continuously impressed by the leadership of Pete Wilson. He is humble, honest, engaging, honoring and has captured the ability to teach the gospel while maintaining an “I get it” factor. I will often watch their Sunday broadcast over the web so I can learn at the feet of Pete before starting another week.

I say all of that to set the stage for what I believe might be Pete’s best book. Having already released “Plan B” and “Empty Promises,” Pete now shifts his focus to something that we all long for…..Hope. Just as with his other books, Pete intertwines real life stories with those from scripture to give us real time applications of hope. Here are just a few of my underlines…

If we don’t learn to transform the pain, we’ll just transfer it.

Do I love something because it has value, or is it my love that actually gives it value?

Nothing-and I mean nothing-makes us feel lonelier than our secrets

God is bigger than your history and more concerned with your destiny.

Your past is not your past if its still impacting your present.

Those underlines are from just the first few chapters. I don’t want to give it all away but I did want to give you a glimpse into what you will find in Let Hope In. The book is set up in four choices that allow us to let hope in:

Choice One: Choosing to Transform Instead of Transfer

Choice Two: Choosing to Be Okay with Not Being Okay

Choice Three: Choosing to Trust Rather than Please

Choice Four: Choosing to Free People Rather than Hurt Them

I am often amazed at how books I review or read tend to arrive at just the right time for me. Let Hope In is a book that fits that category for sure. As I read this book, I did a lot of soul searching. I will often return to this book to review my underlines and allow the advice of Pete Wilson to “transform instead of transfer.” I’m a fan of Cross Point. I’m a fan of Pete Wilson. I’m a fan of “Let Hope In.”

I give “Let Hope In” a 5 out of 5.
