Grace – Review

I recently received a copy of the new Max Lucado book entitled “Grace: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine” to review. As most of you know, I am a huge fan of Max Lucado. His first book on grace, In the Grip of Grace: Your Father Always Caught You. He Still Does. (Lucado, Max) is a book that literally changed my faith. Ever since then, I have faithfully read every book he has released and any I might have missed before. His writing is so smooth and easy to understand that it always leaves you with a greater understanding of the books topic. “Grace” is no different.

Using real life stories interwoven with examples from scripture, Max paints a picture of a grace that we simply don’t understand. He levels the field so we can see that grace is something each of us have stretched and used in ways which most likely are not as close to what God intended as we might think. You’ll be moved by the illustrations and come to see grace an entirely new light.

As an aside, I took this book with me while I got my oil changed yesterday. The girl working at the instant oil change saw it on my lap and immediately asked if it was “any good”. The book and her question led to a lengthy discussion about Max and grace. I couldn’t help but note how we’re all seeking grace and a greater understanding of it. Thank you Max for leading the way.

I give “Grace” a 4 out of 5.
